I looked at the two with the half cleaned mess and after a short pause continued with what i had to say."you must be Kiri" i asked as i glansed in her direction, she nodded. "your uncle asked me to introduse my self, I am Okami. oh and I would expect your uncle to meet with you soon. He has been very busy of late." i stated "it's good to have someone new here" and as i left called "if you need any thing just ask." (i am one of those who don't have much to say and profure not being known, and i think due to that i confuse a lot of people.) i left smiling at myself i knew i had confused them.

Kiri sighed when Okami left the room. "This place just keeps getting weirder. Are all of the people here like this?" I continued scraping at the half dry patch of cement I was working on as I answered. "If you mean the people in the town, no. If you mean in the castle, I have no idea. Up until now, they've kept out of sight when I'm around. The only reason I knew there were servants, was because when your uncle's cook gets mad, you can hear him painting pictures with his words and the librarian, Ms. Rain, left her records out. Mr. Ed is normal- if you can define as normal. He's not much for conversation though. But you're probably better off with strange looking people than with the kinds of people in the town." Here, Kiri shot me a questioning glance. I shrugged. "Some are nice enough. Just not all of them." "I'll get by." I stopped scraping and studied her. "I know." I said simply.

After I was a short way down the hall I heard them start talking again, it was certenly a good thing to have some one new here. it gave every one some thing new to talk about. i reached the stairs and headed up to the top. i went up there often, it was a great view, one could see what seemed like the entire world.

It was late I was in my room by now Okami had most likely all ready shown herself to Kiri wonder what she thought of that? Writing in the journal i kept by my bed i wondered what was going happen in the next few days? how was this all going to play out?

Okami was strange, yeah, I'll admit. She was there one minute, and gone the next, like a shadow. As soon as she left, I grabbed Jaid's arm. "Do you know anything about these . . . creatures?" He shrugged me off, going back to his work. "I already told you. Since you've got here, some weird people have shown up." "I noticed," I muttered. I went back and sat down on the bench. That was when I remembered the Mage light the Gator had given me last night. Where had I put it? I couldn't remember. "I'll back in a minute," I said to Jaid, getting to my feet. "I've forgotten something." He gave a nod, showing he understood. I raced down the hallway, and up the stairs. Where had I put the Mage light? Why could I not recall?
I stood before my door, tugging on the handle - locked. I gave a low curse, and kicked the door. Nothing. Another curse another kick. Another Nothing.
Maybe Jaid has keys, I thought. I trudged back, but stopped in my tracks at the stairwells, blood frozen as a scream echoed throughout the castle.

I heard it, a distant echo of a scream shaking the foundation of the castle or at least my little corner of the room, grabbing a torch, grumbling to myself about the need for electric lights instead of torchs and gas lamps. running down the hall, i gasped as i ran straight into Kiri. maybe she knew.

Rain ran smack into me, and the two of us carreened into an alcove. I leaped to my feet, dusting myself off. The Librarian's torch, once lit, was empty. She stood up slowly. "The scream . . .?" I said. "Yeah, I heard it." she retrieved the torch. "Where did it come from?" "No idea," I said. "It sounded like from all around."
I immediatly thought of Jaid. The scream had been shrill, but could have been male or female. Or neither.
"This castle is really weird," I muttered. Something seized me, I ran down the stairs. I could only think of Jaid!

Some one screamed. It couldn't have been Master. He was still upstairs, and it came from the dunguon. It couldn't have been Okami, she would have howled. I scramble down the stairs, I hate stairs. I slammed into the kitchen. Cook stood tranfixed. There, in a corner by the stove, stood a banshee. They are the female version of a vampire. They are not entirely human, and are such good climber that they could almost scale glass. She must have climbed up the tower side. Her long hair covered most of her body, which was clothed by a very tattered and torn evening dress, I would hardly have called it clothes any more. She was softly hissing at him, weaving her head side to side like a snake. Rain and Kiri dashed up behind me. Kiri gasped, Rain screamed. I lifted my wings and backed out of the room. "Let's leave them be. It's mating season for the vampires."

For some reason, as soon as I finished talking, Kiri asked the exact same question, as if I hadn't replied. It was like she didn't remember. Puzzled, I shrugged her off. "I already told you. Strange creatures started showing up as soon as you got here." Wordlessly, she sat back on the bench. Then she hopped up, seemingly restless. "I'll be right back." She ran out of the room, and I could hear her footsteps pounding against the floor. As soon as Kiri's feet stopped pounding, a bloodcurdling scream echoed through out the castle. Dropping my bucket, I raced towards the ground floor. I knew it had come from there. I tripped down a flight of stairs, but righted myself as I reached the bottom of it. Sprinting towards the kitchen, where I heard voices, I called out, "Is everything okay?"

We ran into Jaid as he ran down the stairs calling to see if everything was al right, just as Kiri asked, "The cook is a Vampire!?!" Jaid stopped, puzzled. "What? Who screamed? What's this talk about vampires?" he asked. "The scream was a Banshee," Rain told him shuddering, her face was still white. She had had quite a few bad brushes with Banshee's ever since Master hired that cook, and wasn't to highly inclined towards them. "Banshee's are female Vampires," I finished for her, "and the cook is a Vampire. It's mating season, or else they wouldn't be allowed inside. If we didn't let them in Cookie would tear the place apart, and everyone in it. How does lunch sound to everyone?" I headed towards the dining room.

A shril scream shatered the silience of my thoughts. not again!i Sighed "every year..." i grouled to myself as i leped down the stairs I hate this time of year banchees get so anoing. I wounder what the newcomers think. I didn't have any banchees near my old home in Japan, but we did have other problems. oh wellMy thoughts like to roam. I reached the dining room were the others were, they seemed to be explaning something to Kiri and Jaid. I sat down with them. I smiled, it would take some time to explane all the castles dealings with Vampires and banchees, not to mention the problems it caused.
