He watched her. He had been watching her for a while. She always came to his grove to pray and meditate. He had learned a lot about her. As she left that day he felt that she would never come back. The wind whispered and told him it was time. He couldn't understand why she had to go back to the humans. From everything he had heard they were terrible people. He sighed. The wind told him to follow her. He thought for a moment. Follow her? But he had always been here. He had been here since the begining of time. Many of the important beings had come here once. He learned many things from them, they had come to his grove to practice, learn, meditate, confess, pray. The wind told him that she was the last. All these many years had been to prepare him for what was to happen. He couldn't do anything just sitting here. "Take the change," the wind whispered, "give up what you are now and become what you are to be. I will help you." Yes, it was time to change. He let go, his thoughts calmed, and he fell apart. The oldest tree of the grove split. All it's branches fell, its bark peeled. The oldest redwood of the world fell. In its place now stood a new creature, covered in red-brown fur it had long tufted ears and stood upright. It soon fell onto all fours and crouched, getting used to all the new sensations. "Go Eragnathaltirinkitir, follow her." The new creature bounded down the mountain.

(OOC: Bravo! Faff's intros are always dramatic. and you're taking a male perspective, which relieves me of that burden for the time being. ;D I may join later, when I can see how the story goes.)

These new limbs were taking a bit to get used to. Yes, he had moved before, but not this way. His leaves had followed the sun and he had swayed in the wind. He had constantly fought gravity to gain the sky. That was the past now. He struggled to gain power over this new mind. It was so more complex than before. He flexed his long slender limbs as she entered into the town. He must remain unseen. The roofs, yes the roofs. He leaped, and landed on the highest roof near the edge. He paused in suprise. How did he do that? He watched her from his new vantage point. The humans stared at her, they backed away from her. This was not good.

Who was she? I had never seen someone like her before. I wondered if she was the people my mother had told me about. I didn't remember the word for them now. Everyone was staying away from her. I was watching out of a window, so I supposed that I was staying away as well. She was so odd...not odd so much as in appearance as in bearing. Different. But whether it was good different or bad different, I wasn't sure.

The visitor left rather quickly. Not that it was a surprise, considering the village's attitude towards strangers, especially those of her nature. Still, I was unaccountably disappointed. As soon as I could slip away from my aunt and uncle, I left the house. When she had gone from the main road, I thought I saw something follow. Mayhap is was simply a squirrel or a heavier than usual cat. But my curiousity had taken hold at this point, so I followed the footprints that were left in the mud for a small while. Barely off the road, I encountered a second set that ran paralell for a few paces. After that, both the stranger's tracks and the new set wandered into the denses grass and weeds at the edge of the wood. Kneeling, I traced the faint outline with my fingertips. They weren't a wolf's, nor were they a wild dog's or cat's. Almost invisible, as if the animal was too light, with an unusual spread that suggested it was a rather ungainly beast, they were unlike any I had seen. Shrugging, I stood upright and turned back towards the outskirts of town. I had gone a mile without even realizing it, and needed to get back to the cottage.

He followed her out of the town and back into the forest. She stopped in a glade, and waited. What was she waiting for? "She's waiting for you," the wind whispered, "go. She must go back to the village. There is a boy there. He must come as well." He was unsure about showing himself to her. He didn't know this new body. He took a breath, hoping that he wouldn't frighten her. Where had this new fear come from. He knew that almost nothing could frighten her, at least animal wise, before he had known no fear. This was going to be very difficult. He stepped out into the light where she could see him. He stood on his hind legs and walked to her. "Hello," his voice creaked. "My name is Eragnathaltirinkitir. I am here to help you."

"Tad! Get yer sorry bum in here, girl!" Oh, this was just lovely. "Sorry, Aunt! I lost track of time!" "Don't give me that, hussy. Ye're always late. Get to mindin' the child'ens." she huffed. Walking into the kitchen, I picked up baby James. "What do you think? Do you think there is a big, nasty, goulie ghostie beastie out yonder?" James gurgled happily. I laughed. Usually I did not take to babies so, but James was the apple of my eye. His older sisters might keep one plenty occupied trying to right their mischief, but James just sat wherever you may plop him and coo and giggle cheerfully. You could put him in a mud pool and I still think he would just splash his hands and giggle.

"I do not know what I am. I used to be the redwood you prayed under, but the wind has told me that it is time to change. All I know of why I follow you is that the wind has told me too, you will lead me to the next happening that will affect the world. I might be required to teach you as well. I know almost everything. I hope you do not mind if I accompany you." OOC) He's a lot more animal than human, I don't know what he really looks like, but it's not a tree. I think he's somewhat of a cross between a long eared squirrel and a very long limbed monkey. His face is a little more human than a monkey. I haven't managed to get him down on paper yet, not that I've had time. He's in my mind, but not concrete yet.

"Oh no!" I groaned. Those two! The girls had wandered off again. If I ever found them again, I would be surprised. The woods went on for a long, long time. I had put the baby down for a nap, and discovered them gone. My aunt would roast me. "Jane! Elly! This is not a game of hide and seek!" Overhead, thunder rumbled.

"I would suggest we return to the town then. There was a girl who followed us into the forest a ways, maybe it is she. Thank you for allowing me to accompany you." I bowed. The wind was pleased.
